A rubber door seal has been used to protect objects of all shapes and sizes from harmful outside elements that may damage them in the long run. They have been used in a lot of items — anywhere from storage compartments to boat hatches, sun roofs to exterior doors, cabinets, skylights, car doors, campers – the applications are endless. They keep dust out of machines’ internal mechanisms, stabilize temperatures and provide a water or air tight sealant.
A rubber door seal comes in a variety of specially designed forms to fit any usage and application. They are usually made up of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) sponge rubber compounds, with an adhesive for easy attachment. This adhesive comes in two forms: the HT or Standard Pressure Sensitive Adhesive; and the BT or 3M Bonded Tape System. The former is an acrylic based adhesive that is recommended for use in stationary objects or those which are seldom moved about. The latter is more ideal when one wishes to create a tight moisture and air barrier. It is, however, trickier to use and requires a longer standby time to harden and fully bond to the surface.
One of the most popular uses of a rubber door seal is to insulate cars from very high temperatures and weather changes (i.e. rain water from pouring into the interiors, etc.) It also serves as a cushion between the car door and automobile body. Metal banging is never a good sound. The rubber seal prevents this from happening. On a refrigerator, this rubber seal also serves an important function by keeping cold air in the unit, thereby reducing the amount of electrical energy used to keep food inside cool. On front-loading washing machines, these seals keep water inside the units and prevent them from leaking out. It also serves the same function as when placed inside a shower door.

If you read pages 122-127 of my Discover Living book, you know I wrote that the political turmoil is coming to pass is as it should. There is an evolution and a revolution taking place now in several countries that have controlled their populations by force and manipulation in the context of a peaceful society. Nothing actually was further from the truth. It doesn’t matter whether it was the youth or some underground organization that initiated the unrest in Egypt. The fact remains that the people were at a melting point of being oppressed and could not take it anymore. Suppressing people through fear, intimidation, and making them feel powerless is only a stopgap. Inequities can last for years or even decades, but eventually there comes a day of reckoning where the consensus of people demands that they be treated like human beings, and a change that sometimes could become violent will result in a different lifestyle. Fortunately, the Egyptians became an example for the world by showing how a non-violent group of citizens could become a force for change. Power can become a corrupting force, and needs to be stopped when self interest overshadows public welfare.
As you have read, this vision of hope for change has spread to other countries. Could this be the rebirth of new societies that I predicted. Some are saying power is being condensed and will unveil a new world order. Others are saying that undercover government organizations are stirring the unrest. I take issue with these reasons that continue to put fear in our hearts. Beliefs and customs are unique to every country so to assume that one world order could control all these differences is invalid. People who are content will not react to manipulation. People are coming together to demand their human rights and to be able to live a lifestyle according to their customs. No one force can control this. Political regimes should be replaced by leaders who recognize others as human beings and a desire to further their particular national heritage in a peaceful way, i.e. without the need to govern by force.
Many governments around the world have discarded or lost the pulse of their people, and are now entering a period of re-balancing where people are demanding the dignity and respect they deserve. This is a shift toward individual rights and away from political domination. It really doesn’t matter what form of government I am addressing. This change or shift has begun and will affect everyone. When a country restores or creates its middle class to a point where it can sustain itself, there will be a beginning of the necessary foundation for it to prosper and meet its needs.
Basic hand tools have been around since before civilization, helping to make life easier and enabling the development of culture. Over the years, they have evolved, and items designed specifically as woodworking tools and garden tools have been invented. Power tools are an electric/mechanical version of devices that can be operated manually. While not all hand contraptions used must have a power source, all power tools are a sub-genre of the hand-held variety.
The first instruments used were sticks and rocks, used to dig, hunt, and fight by the early humans. To make these items more effective, people began to alter them, sharpening stones to use in food preparation or for hunting, and smoothing sticks for better grip and to make it easier to throw them a farther distance. Animal horns are another medium that became popular-sharpening them into weapons for future hunts was particularly beneficial.
In the modern era, these items are not seen as food preparation utensils. Instead, they are used primarily for building shelter and repairing dwellings. Saws, axes, drills and hammers are all very popular.
When using or operating any variety of these, it is important to remember general safety information. Make sure that the work area is clean, well-lit and uncluttered. Also, make sure to know where all the cords are. It can be extremely dangerous to trip over a power cord when operating a high-powered band saw. Cordless tools are a great solution to this.
It is also very important to read the instruction manual that comes with the item. They contain safety information that may be specific to that purchase. Keeping everything in good, working order is a must as well. If equipment is damaged or broken, it can be hazardous to a persons health. Safety protection, in the form of goggles, hearing protection, gloves, dust masks, and hair ties for long hair are also highly recommended.
